SOIL – End of life by end of Q2 2022

Due to increasing comments and inputs from core stakeholders, raising questions about SOIL’s relevance and value, it was in 2018, in cooperation with the SOIL Reference Group, decided that the SOIL Business Case should be re-evaluated, with input from key stakeholders.

The Business Case was concluded in 2019 with the following recommendations:

  • The majority of stakeholders’ opinion was that SOIL is not needed as a complementary service to Internet
  • The Business Case was not able to identify a clear benefit supporting further delivery of the service

SOIL end of life by end of Q2 2022 was presented to Digital Forum in May 2020, and the plan was unanimously approved.

What do you need to do now?

  • Analyze your company’s current SOIL usage and create plan to phase-out SOIL by end of Q2 2022
  • Terminate your agreement with your SSP to be aligned with your phase-out plan
